ABSTRACT
The construction and infrastructure sectors are evolving rapidly, driven by global economic shifts, technological advancements, and sustainability imperatives. In this dynamic landscape, Quantity Surveyors (QS) must embrace resilience and diversification to thrive. This seminar, "Resilience Redefined: Powering a Diversified Future of QS," hosted by the Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS), will explore the profession’s transformation and the strategies required for sustained relevance and leadership. Speakers from PAQS Young Quantity Surveyors Group will share insights on how professionals can adapt to emerging challenges and capitalize on new opportunities in the construction industry. Join us as we chart the path toward a more dynamic, diverse, and future-ready QS profession.
SPEAKERS
1. Lauren Wilson
BCons (Construction Economics), NZ Cert. Bus. (Lvl. 4), NZIQS (Affil.)
With over seven years of diverse experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Lauren has made significant contributions to the construction industry. Her projects range from commercial, apartment, and industrial construction, to residential developments, school renovations, and exterior works packages. Her expertise encompasses estimating, contract and subcontractor management, dispute resolution, and contract negotiation.
Beyond her professional role, Lauren serves as an NZIQS Board Member, QSEP President, and PAQS YQS Vice-Chair. Her commitment extends to two NZIQS Working Groups, where she helps develop valuable resources to support both the Institute’s members and the broader QS community.
Lauren’s diverse experience, strong leadership skills, and unwavering dedication to the construction industry have not only earned her respect but also made her a highly valued professional in her field.
2.Sunny Wong Kin Yeung

Sunny Wong is the council member of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (Quantity Surveying Division) and the past chairman of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (Young Surveyors Group). He is a qualified Quantity Surveyor with more than 10 years of experience in Commercial and Contract Management.
Sunny is currently the Commercial Manager of KinTone Engineering Limited, developing and implementing commercial strategies, managing variations and claims and identifying business opportunities. He is also a lecturer of the Vocational Training Council, lecturing on degree programmes majoring in quantity surveying.
3. Vincent Leong Poh Man
BSc(Hons) QS, MSISV, MRICS, MAIQS, MSIB, ACIArb, NECReg
Vincent Leong is the current Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers Young Quantity Surveyor Chair, Council Member, and Chartered Quantity Surveyor with more than 10 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Commercial, and Contract Management. In addition to his day-to-day QS work, he assists in the preparation of Quantum Expert Witness reports for arbitration and litigation. He also assists in Contractor Security of Payment Act adjudication, providing contractual advice, advisory and support services, documentation, claims preparation, and defence alternative dispute resolution. He was the winner of the IWATA Foundation Travelling Scholarship Essay Competition in 2022 and awarded the Certificate of Highly Recommended Paper in the Practitioner category on green buildings in 2022.
4. Sr Muhamad Hafizuddin Idris
B. (Hons) QS, FRISM, ICECA
Muhamad Hafizuddin is a Fellow of Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) and currently serves as the Chair of Young QS Committee under RISM QS Division for 2024-2025 session. He is a Registered Consultant Quantity Surveyor with the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) and has 15 years of experience specializing in quantity surveying, construction cost management, cost control, and contract administration.
Throughout his career, he has been involved in a wide range of development projects across Malaysia, gaining extensive experience in Civil Engineering Works (including Rail and Water Treatment Plant projects), Building Construction, Local Infrastructure Projects, Renovation & Upgrading Works and Interior Design Projects. Recognizing the shifts in the industry, rapid technological advancements and evolving economic landscape, he firmly believes that innovation and diversification will be key drivers in shaping the future of the QS profession.
