PAQS Chairman’s visit to Brunei 1st May – 3rd May 2019 incorporating a PAQS CPD event

 

 

The PAQS chairman Mr Francis Leung and 1st Vice Chairman Mr Kwan Hock Hai visited Brunei Darussalam in early May 2019. The visit was hosted by our PAQS member, The Association of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects Brunei (PUJA). 

The Chairman spent time with PUJA members and a PAQS CPD event was held on 2nd May at Bertabur Hall, Ministry of Development, Brunei. Permanent Secretary Awang Haji Mohammad Nazri Bin Haji Mohammad Yusof was the guest of honour. The event was covered by Borneo Bulletin.

PAQS Chairman spoke on PAQS’s history and our visions and missions. He also stressed on the importance of international collaboration as a united profession, facilitating cross-fertilisation of expertise and exploring new markets. Francis also shared his experience on BIM, prefabricated pre-finished volumetric construction and new modes of procurement and contracting in Hong Kong, which were representative of the effort that quantity surveyors in the pacific region were making in expanding our services along the industry value chain. 1st Vice Chair Mr Kwan spoke about the upcoming 23rd PAQS Congress in Kuching, Malaysia. He also touched on the economics of going green. His technical talk was about the cost and incentives of going green in Malaysia. 

PUJA managed to arrange an informal meeting with the Minister of Development, Dato Seri Setia Ir. Awang Haji Suhaimi Bin Haji Gafar where we briefed him on the latest development within PAQS
