PAQS Accreditation of Universities

The PAQS Board has approved the interim PAQS accreditation of the University of Technology Sydney in Australia. This is only the second university to be granted interim PAQS accreditation and follows the approval of the University of Melbourne in 2004.

PAQS WELCOMES CHINA AND CANADA AS MEMBERS

At the PAQS Annual Board meeting in Tokyo on 31 October 2003, the members warmly welcomed the admission of China as a full member of the Association. The China Engineering Cost Association (CECA) sent a strong delegation to the Board meeting and following Congress program and also accepted the responsibility for organising the 9th PAQS Congress in 2005.

PAQS TO PUBLISH A REGIONAL REGISTER OF QS FIRMS

The PAQS Board has approved the publication by PAQS of a regional register or directory of QS firms which are owned or staffed by members of the PAQS member Institutes. This register will show the contact details of the firms, the number of professional QS staff in the office, their qualifications, the services provided by the firm and their experience.

NEW PAQS CHAIRMAN FROM MALAYSIA

Mr Ong See Lian, a member of the ISM, took over as the PAQS Chairman from Mr TT Cheung of the HKIS, on 3 November 2003. The new Chairman’s first official PAQS duty will be to lead the members to Cape Town for the 8th PAQS Congress and Annual PAQS Board meeting, which is being held in conjunction with the ICEC Congress.
